Professional Development in the Midst of Post Pandemic Society

“Fear robs you of your freedom to make the right choice in life that can bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. On the other side of fear, lies freedom. If you want to grow, you need to be brave and take risks”, this is a famous quote from the book “The Light in the Heart” written by Roy T Bennett. Professional development is a series of programs and training that helps a person to develop skills, gain knowledge and increase confidence. I see professional development as something that one decisively does with heart and vigor. At times, fear lies as a hindrance in our growth. By then we will never become who we wanted to be. On the other hand, it takes bravery to face those fears for us to be able to absorb the growth we are capable of.  

For more than a year, since the virus emerged, it has upended or turned upside down our everyday lives across the globe. It changed how we work, learn and interact. This has affected us in every aspect of our lives. Even the search for our professional development has been staggered. Seminars are prohibited, as it is causing a crowd of people in an area, many programs of some organizations have not been conducted, anxiety and burnout were also reasons that certain plans for career growth have been postponed. With the warp and morph of this uncertain ever-changing world, we continue to trudge on the battle towards the Covid-19 Pandemic.

We are currently striving amid a post-pandemic society where we try to live normal with the “NEW NORMS”. A state which is far different from the situation that prevailed before this novel coronavirus existed. Organizations and groups for professional development have thought of ways to still pursue their vision even in these trying times. HR SUCCESS TALK is one of the longest communities of HR professionals that has a vision of coming together to learn from each other and share talent and business-related matters to make them a better professional every day and has intensely promoted their webinar sessions to promote professional development. This way of learning is very timely as social distancing has led to more existence of virtual platforms both used personally and professionally. 

With a strong foundation, HR SUCCESS TALK goes worldwide as an opportunity for a wider audience through webinars arises. Soon its Ghana and UAE Chapters will be officially launched; With the hope and courage to build more connections while learning continually. Here in the UAE, we will soon conduct a series of webinars as a kick-off for the UAE Chapter. This is open for individuals who are fearless in growth in the field of Human resources. Students, young professionals, leaders, managers, etc. with a passion to learn and a heart for Human resources are the target audience for these webinars. 

Just like what HR SUCCESS TALK – UAE Chapter promotes, access for HR professional development, which I believe anyone could have through the help of each one of us. Let us not become a slave of the barriers that besets us. Rather, let us become the captain of our ship, fearless and constantly striving to learn even amid uncertainties, “The Post Pandemic Society”.
